Okay so it’s 2013 and the SA seems be going all the way in on the fun. From Swedish House Mafia to the Cape Town Jazz festival, we’ve put together the gig guide of all gig guides for you.We’re only a few weeks in and events have been happening left and right. If you’re missing out, do not fear because VB is here!
It’s already time to say good bye to January 2013 and what can be better than sending it off with Swedish House Mafia? This Friday, 25th January, SHM will grace our soil with their presence! They will be at Wild Waters on the 25th and 26th and head down to Cape Town on the 27th! If you don’t yet have tickets, check out Computicket for more information!
If electro isn’t your thing Kanye West might be. The famous rapper and recent baby-daddy will be in the motherland on the 2nd of Feb thanks to Castle Lites “Feel the beat of sub zero” experience. There’s no doubt that this artist needs no introduction, we have already heard so much about the concert! Tickets are sold out but you may be lucky enough to find some individual ticket sales, check Twitter and Gumtree.
If all these concerts aren’t enough, make sure you check out Sade and Miguel who will also set foot on Mzanzi turf this year.
The J&B Met’s theme for 2013 is “Made to Fly” so if you going down there for the Met this year, make sure you’re dressed to the nines and made “too” fly! Of course we will be looking out for the fashion from our celebrities, hopefully they won’t be looking like flies! The event is set to take place on 2 Febuary so join them if that’s your type of entertainment!
The Cape Town International Jazz Festival is also an event that people look forward to every year. If you’re balling and able to make your way to Cape Town at that time of the year do make your way down there! If, not, make sure you start planning to catch next year’s festival! The concert will be on the 5th and 6th of April this year and its promising artists such as Victor Ntoni, as well as renowned artists such as Jack DeJohnette, Ravi Coltrane and Matt Garrison. Not to mention, Jimmy Dludlu will also be there!
How can we forget the Metro FM awards? Yep they are back and happening next month! Nominations are already out and the Metros will be the highlight for the month of love! Be sure to be on the look out for the pre-parties and after-parties because it’s a guarantee that they will be there! Check their website for more info.
On a more local scene, Dj Shimza has his annual Chick Flick this year at Moriteng Park. It is a wonderful event, exclusively for the ladies; guys are only allowed in after 11pm. So ladies make sure you check it out and see what treats Dj Shimza has in store for you this year.
