Only in its teens and it is already regarded as one of the most prominent party throwers in our land. Truth nightclub JHB has a long standing reputation as a mecca for Johannesburg nightlife and has been given international recognition as one of the leading purveyors of Dance music of all forms. This year, the Midrand based nightclub turns 14 and true to its reputation, it promises us a night full of electrifying fun.
South Africa‘s acid house scene took root in the late 80’s and by 1999 dance music had blossomed into a vibrant local scene. It was at this time that Truth opened its doors. Pretoria’s old snake park— a vast venue with both outdoor and indoor spaces provided the perfect framework for a multi-floor nightclub. The space was transformed into the nocturnal playground of electronic music it’s known and loved as today.
Ever since its opening, Truth‘s impact on urban youth culture has been immense; with youth from all walks of life and from all parts of the city coming together under one vast dance roof weekend after weekend. Truth is the one nightclub in Johannesburg that everyone, even people who listen to other genres of music have had fun partying at. Just by taking a look at their Facebook page you can see the diversity of their crowd and you’ll be surprised at how many of your own friends have liked Truth.
Over the years, Truth has hosted some of the world’s most cutting-edge electronic artists including Richie Hawtin, Tiefschwarz, Pleasurekraft, Edu Imbernon, Yousef, Lee Burridge, Silicone Soul, Edu Sister Bliss, Wally Lopez, Conrad Black, Cosmic Gate, Sasha, Ferry Corsten, Style of Eye to name but only a few.
