It is a critical time for music releases. As summer starts to make an appearance, people (if you are anything like me) start to put together their summer playlists and …
The South African music industry has been shaken up; it has been a while since I have seen musicians, creatives and fans alike so passionate about the music they love …
It has been a weird week for me in terms of music listening and discoveries. I found myself listening to the same old tracks, and needed something to spice up my life. Yesterday, I stumbled across a great track that I had listened to about a week ago called Knightime by Australian producer Ta-Ku. The track did exactly what I needed it to do – it got me jamming at my desk. I then decided to explore his Soundcloud page.
It was here that I got introduced to the greatness of this man through my first listen of his EP Songs to Break Up To. I mean, the title of the EP most definitely resonated with me as I peeked outside and watched that monsoon outside – made me feel some typa way, you know. I was also intrigued to hear what songs to break up to sounded like – it was an interesting way to listen to someone’s perspectives about heartbreak, betrayal and also that sore thing when the vibe is just not working out for the people anymore. THIS is what it sounds like when you say good bye to someone.
If that didn’t sum up Ta-Ku’s talents go on and listen to his remixes of all your favourite tracks from Flume, Disclosure, Banks and even Justin Timberlake. I posted on this soundcloud page for the whole day yesterday and with zero hestitation I returned to it today. So, I don’t have a song of the week, because the way this soundcloud page is set up – I’ve got a playlist of the week, courtesy of Ta-Ku.
Here is Ta-Ku’s Boiler Room set in LA – See the greatness, feel the greatness, listen to the greatness all day everyday!
